ABC Bank empowers Kibera Girls Soccer Academy through mentorship

On 1 August 2025, ABC Bank’s senior leadership visited the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy (KGSA) in Kibera to mentor Form Four students on educational preparedness and life skills as they approach their final year of high school.

Group Head of HR Lucy Wariara, Head of Retail Banking Amanda Corline, and Green House Branch Manager Sabina Olwaga engaged with the students, who are preparing for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. The visit formed part of Global Money Week, an international initiative promoting financial literacy among young people, and sought to equip the girls with practical knowledge and motivation ahead of this pivotal milestone.

“It was truly inspiring to witness how much these girls benefit from the academy’s support,” said Lucy Wariara. “Their determination and hopes for the future left a lasting impression on us, and we were honoured to encourage them as they prepare for both their exams and life beyond school.”

Founded in 2006, KGSA provides free secondary education to underprivileged girls from Kibera, offering a holistic curriculum that integrates sports, arts, leadership development, life skills, and STEM opportunities. The academy has empowered more than 400 graduates to pursue higher education and leadership roles.

As these bright girls gear up for their KCSE exams, ABC Bank reaffirms its commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders through mentorship, financial literacy, and community engagement.
