The Green Brand theme was chosen to address the Global Ecological degradation that has been witnessed in the recent past. ABC Bank decided to undertake the challenge to be part of the solution by taking a Global Approach and Seek local solutions that are well applicable to the challenges facing our localities especially where we operate in.

In line with this we are pursuing the theme:
The Green Business Initiative and Self Sustainability projects. 

The Green Business Component.
Internally, our overall aim will be to pursue the 3 Rs, i.e.

REDUCE, RECYCLE & RE-USE.
This covers all facets of our operations.

1. Reduce: this initiative aims to eliminate wastage of resources, eliminate excessive energy usage, conserve water and maximize on available natural resources such as use of better natural lighting for offices, gravity motion in distribution of water, utilization of solar power for low power consumption units amongst other efforts.

These efforts will work to eliminate emissions and reduce placement of pollutants into the environment.

2. Re-use: this initiative aims to re-capture resources that can be utilized repeatedly without loss of integrity. Here focus shall be on initiatives to re-use  office plastic and paper products such as empty boxes, one sided print outs, box files, spring files amongst others; repeatedly and creatively.

3. Re-cycle: this initiative is to make provisions mainly at the exhaust end of using various products. The effort here will be to separate various waste, subscribe to environmentally conscious waste managers.

In addition to this, a conscious effort to purchase and utilize whenever possible re-cycled materials in order to eliminate further out put of non bio-degradable waste.

Externally, to support the mentioned areas ABC Bank has focused on:

1. Intensive Tree Planting.
2. Adoption of gazetted environmental conservation areas.
3. Rehabilitation of earmarked environment sites.

Self Sustainability Projects Component.

This creates an opportunity to incorporate ABC Bank staff to promote the sustainable initiatives in communities that have interest and earn from the environments that they reside in.

The aim will be to transfer the following skills:
A. Managing personal finance.
B. Group financial management.
C. Wealth creation techniques e.g. strategic Saving.
D. Effective business planning.

These skills are critical in pursuing a sustainable environmental protection programme as they will understand responsible extraction of resources and utilization allowing the environment to recover fully.

In this regard; the staff engagement will liaise with local group projects in their locality that promote the following self sustainability areas:

These efforts will go a long way in protecting and enhancing an understanding of interrelations between the communities and environment.
